Cast of Orphan: First Kill
Isabelle Fuhrman reprized her role as Esther in Orphan: First Kill. Fuhrman originated the role in 2009 when she was just 12 years old.
Fuhrman is now 25 and looks as young as he did in 2009 with no aging or CGI work.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about reprising her role as Esther, Fuhrman said, “I love the challenge of being able to play a kid because historically it’s never been done in theaters.” Mess like that — and I was like, “Oh, a Adults never repeated the role they played as a child.
“Will Smith, for example, recently did that movie [Gemini Man] where they age someone, but reprising a role that you literally played as a child as an adult has never been done before. It’s kind of impossible. And we have. We didn’t use special effects, we didn’t use bizarre makeup tricks. And I think that’s what makes the movie, because you really can’t figure out what I’ve looked like since [9 years], but I do. And it’s really scary.”
Since Orphan, Fuhrman has starred in Escape Room: Tournament of Champions and The Novice. She is also known for playing Clove in The Hunger Games.
Reign’s Rossif Sutherland and Riviera’s Julia Stiles co-star with Fuhrman in Orphan: First Kill. Sutherland plays Esther’s adoptive father, Allen Albright, and Stiles plays her overprotective mother, Tricia.
Other starring roles in Orphan: First Kill include Matthew Finlan as Gunnar Albright, Morgan Giraudet as James Klammer, Hiro Kanagawa as Inspector Donnan, and Samantha Walkers as Dr. Sager
What Is Orphan: First Kill About?
Orphan: First Kill assists as a prequel to 2009’s Orphan and tells Esther’s backstory.
The film follows a young Esther who escapes from a psychiatric facility in Estonia and successfully reaches America posing as the missing daughter of a super-rich family.
As of Orphan 2009, everyone knows Esther’s real identity is Leena Klammer, a 33-year-old woman suffering from a rare hormonal disorder.
Orphan: First Kill does precisely what the title says, following Esther/Leena as she plunges into an innocent family, tearing them apart and ultimately committing her “first kill.”
The official synopsis teases, “Esther’s horrific saga continues in this suspenseful prequel to the original awful horror hit ‘Orphan.’ After organizing a brilliant escape from an Estonian psychiatric capability, Esther travels to America and impersonates the missing daughter of a wealthy family.
“However, it takes an unexpected turn that pits her against a mother who will protect her family from the murderous ‘child’ at all costs.”
Trailer for Orphan: First Kill – Orphan: First Kill Trailer
Yes, there’s an exciting trailer for Orphan: First Kill that you won’t want to miss.
The trailer begins with Tricia receiving news that her daughter is still alive. However, the daughter who reenters her life is not someone she recognizes.
Esther is then seen attending a counseling session and behaving erratically while, at the same time, her family begins to doubt her true identity.
Her therapist can be told in her sessions that watching Esther “felt like a performance” when a detective, thanks to DNA evidence, reveals that Esther is not Tricia’s daughter.
If you can follow the trailer, the detective could be Esther’s first murderer. If you look very closely, Esther stands behind him as she discovers her identity.
As the trailer concludes, Esther competes with Tricia, who vows to protect her family no matter what.
Orphan: First Kill is in theaters, digitally, and streaming on Paramount+ on Friday, August 19.
