ReMarkable Paper Tablet
The reMarkable Paper Tablet is a lightweight and minimalist hybrid iPad / e-reader.
Reproduces the experience of using a pencil or pen, eliminating the hassle of actually dragging paper (be it a notebook, sketchbook, or book).
There is a lot to love about reMarkable, but the price makes you wonder if it’s worth it when you can use the iPad Pro and Apple Pencil without paying more.
For an artist or designer accustomed to the powerful features of the iPad Pro, the reMarkable tablet seems like a gimmick.
It’s Grayscale, and you can’t use it to watch Netflix, email, or Skype, but it weighs next to nothing.
Its batteries last for several days, and drawing on it feels more like a pen/pencil and paper than any tablet we’ve tried before.
The lack of colour may seem like instant procrastination, but some of us still only paint in black and white, whether it’s character designs or UX flowcharts.
It is a niche attraction, but it doesn’t get any better if you find yourself in this niche.
The tablet is currently only available via its website but will soon be available via the Amazon Launchpad program.
It focuses on innovative startup products, including Sensible Object.
Features of Sony Digital Paper
- There’s a lot to love about reMarkable. The experience of writing and drawing is closest to the experience of using paper.
- We can imagine spending unending hours drawing on this tablet.
- Plus, it’s lightweight, automatically syncs and backs up your files, is easy to use, and works with a lightweight stylus that doesn’t require recharging or pairing.
- On the other finger, we were hoping to see better integration with typical custom workflows.
- We were hoping to see export possibilities in PSD files and, more important, resolution in image files for artists.
- We believe the OCR (Optical Character Recognition) options will be useful for writers and notes.
- Handwritten text can convert to searchable and editable text.
Sony and Remarkables duelling e-paper tablets are strange but impressive beasts

How to use the reMarkable paper tablet?
- We, e-book readers, were surprised by the lack of vocabulary and lack of page-turning.
- Instead, you use the keys at the bottom of the screen to flip pages left and right.
- We suspect this prevents unnecessary page-flipping due to palm interference when using the note-taking marker.
Great paper tablet – productive
- No colors, no browsers, no distracting apps.
- It is a pill-shaped reservoir of sensory deprivation ideal for reflective thinking, sketching, and visual problem-solving sessions that creative professionals often find themselves in.
- Remarkables are incredibly useful for students who are often immersed in note-taking and critical, active reading anyway.
- And not to mention drawing charts, Gantt schedule, graphs, and mind maps.
- The ReMarkable Tablet is a costly investment and not perfect.
- We can see that it is a productive and targeted tool for those who draw and paint in black and white anyway.
- All in all, this is a significant convenience if you can afford it.
